The Liberate Pixil Cup Quest [Play me!] [Download me!]

This is an HTML5 game. It’s a “Tactical RPG”, where you move square by square and attack enemies based on the square they are at. You are a swordsman, and must defeat all 50 enemies to Liberate the “Pixil Cup”. The enemies have a small number besides them that mark their level. The higher the level, the stronger they are. There are also chests lying around that you must smash to open, then step over the tile to grab it’s contents.

The base where you start allows you to heal up, as well as purchase HP, Attack or Luck boosts on the left shop, as well as general items, on the right  shop. In case you’re curious, Luck boosts your defense, as well as critical attacks, according to the author’s ‘tips’.

The map you play around is small enough to walk around, but large enough to be a chore to walk around. I lost track of how many times I died because I was too lazy to walk back to the base to heal up and didn’t have a sock scroll to warp back to the base.

Getting through all 50 enemies takes some time, as you can only move up to 2 spaces at a time, and status ailments such as slow make you move only one space at a time.

After defeating all 50 enemies, fireworks show up, and your score is displayed. Mine says Deaths: 400, which I don’t think is the number of times I died, but is pretty close.

Overall, It’s a fun game, try it out!

As a final note: The author included some code that displays a Pause function when the screen loses focus. I had a hard time taking clear screenshots because of it. The actual game isn’t as dark and does not have a pinkish “Click anywhere to resume” box unless it’s actually paused.

here is how you can take clean screenshots from it: start GIMP and File->Create->Screenshot. Then Take a screenshot of a single window and use some Delay.
    Works as a charm.

Even hitting ‘print screen’ caused the screen to lose focus for a mere second, which was enough time to darken the screen though usually not enough time to actually display the ‘Game Paused’ screen. I think the only way to actually take pictures is to do a screencast and rip them from there.
